Having your character die in Alsherok is a very real and often frequent possibility. Monsters, traps, harmful magic and other unhealthy things can be found all over the land ready to take your character's life. While bringing a feeling of loss and wasted effort, death also adds an element of challenge and risk while adventuring in Alsherok. However don't get angry or dismayed if you die, every single player has died at one time or another and continued on to tell the tale. When your character dies, you will lose an amount of experience points and begin anew in the Bywater Temple. Unfortunately, your corpse together with all your equipment and money will remain on the spot where you died. Unless you perished in a deathtrap. When this happens, don't give up! Remember where you died and the dangers around your corpse. Your can still get to your corpse and retrieve all your items or you can use the deity feature and supplicate for your corpse. Just get some temporary equipment, including recall potions, light sources and perhaps a small boat or canoe in case you need to navigate through water. Your corpse will remain on the mud for approximately 15 minutes before decaying totally. If you find it too difficult to retrieve your equipment then you should also use the chat channel and try asking for help from the other players around you. More than often someone will come to help if they are able to. Just don't spam or annoy anyone.
Some of the problems you may encounter when looking for your corpse include the creature that killed you, other aggressive creatures, some creatures who take items from your corpse and then wander about the area and the creatures that eat up corpses, spilling your items all over the floor. Just be careful and try to go in as prepared as you can. For this, it is always advisable to bring along friendly adventurers to help you and to keep a sizable amount of money in the bank so that you can buy new temporary stuff to wear. You will need a weapon in case something attacks you. There is no surefire method of getting back your stuff after you have died or to prevent future deaths. Patience and caution are all you need and of course a good memory of the area you were in.
